Why You Can Be Right and Still Be Wasting Your Life

Why You Can Win Every Argument and Still Lose Your Peace

A donkey and a tiger once argued about the color of grass.

The donkey said:

“Grass is blue.”

The tiger said:

“No. Grass is green.”

The argument grew louder.

Eventually, they took the matter to the lion.

The donkey stepped forward and asked:

“Your Majesty, isn’t the grass blue?”

The lion said:

“Yes. The grass is blue.”

The donkey rejoiced.

He walked away happily, convinced he had won.

Then the lion turned to the tiger and punished him.

The tiger was stunned.

“Why am I being punished?” he asked. “I was right. Grass is green.”

The lion said:

“You’re not being punished for being wrong.

You’re being punished for wasting your time arguing with a donkey.”

Not every argument is really about truth.

Some people don’t want clarity.

They want a reaction.

Not every wrong opinion needs your correction.

Not every foolish claim needs your participation.

You can be right and still lose — if proving your point costs you your peace.

Before entering an argument, ask:

“Is this person seeking truth or just trying to win noise?”

And maybe the deeper question is:

“Is this worth what it’s costing me?”

Because wisdom is not just knowing what’s true.

It’s knowing when truth does not need your defense.

The grass is still green.

You just don’t need to prove it to every donkey you meet.
